How to Activate Popla Foothills Skyview Tower

By
Nathan Garvin

You’ll find towers scattered throughout Hyrule, and aside from being striking landmarks that can help you navigate the world (just look out for the four guide lights on the corner - you can spot them from quite a distance!), they’re also useful as fast travel locations and for arguably their primary purpose - unveiling obfuscated map regions. Enter a tower, interact with the terminal, and you’ll be propelled into the sky, from which vantage Link will survey the land around him.

The first tower you claim is a simple, story-driven affair, but later towers are often puzzles, requiring you to figure out how to get inside or where to find a nearby character capable of getting the tower functional again. Since exploring a region before dispelling the fog of war on the map makes it much easier to navigate, you’ll want to seek out towers and complete them before you start exploring a region in earnest. This page will provide a walkthrough for the "Popla Foothills Skyview Tower" iconPopla Foothills Skyview Tower in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

The Popla Foothills Tower can be found along the northern edge of the Faron region.

Where to find the Popla Foothills Skyview Tower in Tears of the Kingdom

The Popla Foothills Skyview Tower is located along the southern end of Hyrule, south, southeast from "Lookout Landing" iconLookout Landing, along the northern edge of the "Faron" iconFaron region. You’ll probably want to complete the Hyrule Field Skyview Tower to the northwest first, so the map is unveiled all the way down to the edge of the Faron region. Kamizun Shrine and Jiukoum Shine both provide fast travel locations somewhat nearby, to the northwest and southeast, respectively.

(1 of 3) Climb down a well north of the tower,

How to Complete the Popla Foothills Skyview Tower in Tears of the Kingdom

When you arrive at the Popla Foothills Skyview Tower you’ll find that, as is the norm, it’s in need of repair before you can use it. Exit the tower and head north a short distance to find a well. Climb - don’t jump - inside. There’s some foliage near the bottom that can clip if you if you’re not careful, so just climb down, or at least climb down far enough to ensure you can drop safely into the water at the bottom of the well.

Once at the watery bottom of the well, make for dry land and look for a fragile rock formation, then smash it with a hammer (pretty much any weapon fused with a stone or rock should suffice). Smashing the rocks will reveal some ruins - just follow the passage and you’ll find a man, "Elmerson" iconElmerson, trapped in a cage. Talk to him and he’ll tell you that he ended up trapped (obviously) and needs you to somehow weigh down a lever on the opposite end of his cage to free him.

(1 of 3) Ascend out of the well and head south from the tower to find some cliffs,

You can’t do that from this side of the cage, so use your "Ascend" iconAscend power to surface near the tower, then make your way south until you find some cliffs overlooking some ruins. Jump and glide down to the ground below, then turn back north to find a cave opening on the cliff face ("Popla Foothills Excavation Site" iconPopla Foothills Excavation Site). Enter it and press onwards until you find the other side of the cage entrapping poor Elmerson. Use "Ultrahand" iconUltrahand on a nearby rock and drag it onto the pressure plate near his cage to open it. Freed, the relieved handyman will give you 50 Rupees before remembering he has to fix the Popla Foothills Skyview Tower.

When you’re done in the ruins, head back up to the Popla Foothills Skyview Tower, which should now be in working order. Activate the launcher to complete the tower and dispel the fog of war from the Faron region.
