The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

How to Get the Scimitar of the Seven and Daybreak in Tears of the Kingdom

By
Jarrod Garripoli

There is a total of 15 legendary weapons in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some of these weapons will take a bit of time to get them, since they are locked behind multiple quests, while others might be a bit easier to acquire, if you know where to look. The Gerudo tribe has two pieces of equipment for you to get, both tied to the same quest, the "Scimitar of the Seven" iconScimitar of the Seven and the "Daybreaker" iconDaybreaker shield.

Thankfully, both of these piece of equipment are tied to the same quest, and it is similar to the "Lightscale Trident" iconLightscale Trident, except there’s an extra step. To get started, you will need to have completed the Lightning Temple, which is one of the four parts to the "Regional Phenomena" iconRegional Phenomena main quest. Upon doing this, the sandstorm covering the Gerudo Desert will be cleared. With this out of the way, head to Gerudo Town and speak to "Cara" iconCara, who should be at the Jewelry Shop. She mentions that the actual owner isn’t there and went somewhere, so it’s your job to find her; this will begin "The Missing Owner" iconThe Missing Owner side quest.

"Isha" iconIsha can be found in the western part of the desert, at the Toruma Dunes. When you head on over there, you will find Isha on top of some debris, and there will be a "Molduga" iconMolduga moving around nearby. She can’t do anything, due to the Molduga, so you will need to defeat it. The most important thing to know when fighting a Molduga is they are sensitive to sound, so moving around on the actual sand is something you don’t want to do. In fact, for this particular one, you can toss an "Apple" iconApple or other object onto the sand, which will cause the beast to jump out of the sand.

Use this opportunity to shoot it on its underbelly, which is softer than the other parts; a "Bomb Flower" iconBomb Flower attached to an arrow works very well. Once it’s stunned, run up and attack with your strongest weapon, until it starts moving again, which is your clue to get back onto the debris. Repeat the process and keep doing the above until the Molduga is defeated, then speak to Isha to send her back to town. Return there yourself and talk to Cara/Isha to finish the quest (you will receive a "Diamond" iconDiamond for this, which is good).

Speak to Isha again to get another side quest, where she asks you to bring her some materials to make some powerful equipment. In total, you will need a "Gerudo Scimitar" iconGerudo Scimitar, a "Gerudo Shield" iconGerudo Shield, 4 Diamonds, and 10 "Flint" iconFlint. Visit the How to Get Diamonds page for more info on that, and Flint is pretty common if you go searching for ore nodes. The other two items, though, are a little more challenging to find.

If you search the caves in the Gerudo region, you will run into plenty of enemies, and some of these enemies might be wielding the Gerudo Scimitar. However, there is a guaranteed spot in the "Ancient Prison Ruins" iconAncient Prison Ruins, with the entrance being one of the sand pits in the Palu Wasteland area. As you’re exploring this place, you will find a bunch of "Gibdo" iconGibdos, as well as empty cells. One of those empty cells will have a scimitar laying on the ground, so it’s right there for the taking. Alternatively, if you’ve done "The Mysterious Eighth" iconThe Mysterious Eighth side quest, then you can access the "Gerudo Sanctuary" iconGerudo Sanctuary that should also have a scimitar.

Where to Find the Gerudo Shield in Tears of the Kingdom

The Gerudo Shield is a little trickier to get, as there aren’t many instances of a respawnable one in the wild. In the northern part of the desert, there are many little pillars that are climbable, which might have something on top of them, but none of them really do. However, if you look for the Great Cliffs area on the map, you should see some of those pillars to the northeast of it. One of these pillars will actually have a Gerudo Shield on it, although you might need to be a little careful, as there might be enemies around. Additionally, like with the Scimitar above, you can head to the Gerudo Sanctuary (once it’s unlocked) and get one there.

Once you have all of the necessary items, bring them back to Isha and hand them over to receive the Daybreaker shield and the Scimitar of the Seven. The Daybreaker shield doesn’t have any passive abilities, although it has 48 defense and pretty good durability. For the Scimitar of the Seven, it has 28 attack power and also has Strong Fusion passive. That means any item you fuse to it will have its power doubled, which is great for something like a "Lynel" iconLynel item or a "Molduga Jaw" iconMolduga Jaw.

How to Repair the Scimitar of the Seven/Daybreaker in Tears of the Kingdom

These Champion pieces of equipment are a little more involved than the others, which makes them a little more annoying to reforge after they break. Yep, if you use them enough that they break, then you will need to gather all of the above ingredients and return to Isha to make them again. However, there is a way to repair them using the Rock Octoroks, which are special versions of that enemy type. They have the ability to suck in weapons you place on the ground nearby, then spit them back out fully repaired (and with a passive buff on them, though this is completely random).

Normally, if you try to feed the Champion items to the !Rock Octoroks, they will just spit them right back out, without doing anything to them. There is a way to trick them, though, which is to fuse the Champion item to a normal piece of equipment (like any shield or even something like a "Tree Branch" iconTree Branch for the weapons). Once you’ve done that, feed it to your little friend and when it comes back out, it will be fully repaired. With that fused weapon in hand, head on over to Tarrey Town and to the Break-a-Part Shop, where you can get your original Champion item back for a measly 20 Rupees.
