The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

How to Activate Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower

By
Nathan Garvin

You’ll find towers scattered throughout Hyrule, and aside from being striking landmarks that can help you navigate the world (just look out for the four guide lights on the corner - you can spot them from quite a distance!), they’re also useful as fast travel locations and for arguably their primary purpose - unveiling obfuscated map regions. Enter a tower, interact with the terminal, and you’ll be propelled into the sky, from which vantage Link will survey the land around him. The first tower you claim is a simple, story-driven affair, but later towers are often puzzles, requiring you to figure out how to get inside or where to find a nearby character capable of getting the tower functional again. Since exploring a region before dispelling the fog of war on the map makes it much easier to navigate, you’ll want to seek out towers and complete them before you start exploring a region in earnest. This page will provide a walkthrough for Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

The Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower can be found along the northern end of Hyrule, north of the Great Hyrule Forest.

Where to find Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower in Tears of the Kingdom

Located in north-central Hyrule, along the northern edge of the map, you’ll find the Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower within the midst of the Thyphlo Ruins, which itself is north of the Great Hyrule Forest, which in turn is north of Hyrule Castle. All of these locations are surrounded by water, so your best bet for reaching this tower with as little fuss as possible is to actually take the road northeast from "Lookout Landing" iconLookout Landing until you reach the New Serenne Stable/Sinakawak Shrine, after which turn north and continue following the road past Kiuyoyou Shrine. Eventually the foliage will die off and you’ll pass through some barren mountains - it’s at this point enemies (mostly "Bokoblin" iconBokoblin) become more common, but still nothing you can’t just run past. Keep following the road and it’ll eventually arc north over the !Thyphlo Ruins, at which point you just need to find some high ground you can use to glide over to the island the ruins are on.

(1 of 5) Talk to Billson and he’ll complain about the tower being out of commission, for reasons he doesn’t understand.

How to Complete Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower in Tears of the Kingdom

Head up to the tower and inside you’ll find a beaky chap named "Billson" iconBillson, who will complain about the tower not functioning for reasons he can’t understand. Exit the tower and look up to spot some Zonai floating platforms… they don’t appear to be interfering with the tower, but they’re not around any other tower, so at the very least your puzzle-senses should be tingling.

"Ascend" iconAscend up to the lowest of these floating platforms and you’ll find… nothing out of the ordinary. You will, however, find some Zonai Rockets, which should again rouse your puzzle senses. Use "Ultrahand" iconUltrahand to grab a rocket, turn it so it’s facing skywards, then attach it to the side of the platform. Once done, smack it to set the rocket off and propel the platform - and yourself - higher into the air.

From this vantage, the problem should become apparent - there’s a Zonai floating platform blocking the top of the tower! Dive onto this obstructing platform (note, some of the lower platforms are occupied by archer !Constructs, but you don’t need to bother with them if you don’t care to), then for the tricky part: jump off the platform and glide down onto the roof of the tower just below said platform. From here you can Ultrahand the platform out of the way, and when you’re clear you’ll get the iconic “puzzle solved” jingle, letting you know you can dive back down to the ground and inform BIllson that you’ve solved the problem.

Once done, interact with the terminal and launch yourself up the tower to survey the area.
