The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

A Picture for the Closed Stable II Walkthrough

By
Jarrod Garripoli

There are numerous side quests to be found in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some of these side quests will involve your camera and start at the various stables you can visit. One such side quest is A Picture for the Closed Stable II, with this page talking about where to start the side quest, as well as how to complete it.

There is a second picture frame at Gerudo Canyon Stable that gives another quest.

Where to Start A Picture for the Closed Stable II in Tears of the Kingdom

Before getting started with this side quest, you will need to complete two other quests. The first one is "Camera Work in the Depths" iconCamera Work in the Depths, which is a main quest that you can get very early upon reaching the Surface, from "Lookout Landing" iconLookout Landing. The reason this is important is because it will unlock the "Camera" iconCamera for you, and you kind of need that for a quest that requires taking a picture. The second you need to do is a side quest, named Piaffe, Packed Away. This one starts at the Gerudo Canyon Stable, right outside of reaching the Gerudo Desert. It’s a very short side quest, too, so it shouldn’t take you long at all.

Once you’ve done both of those, you will see two empty picture frames on the wall at the same stable. Inspect the one on the right to start this side quest.

How to Complete A Picture for the Closed Stable II in Tears of the Kingdom

The second photo that "Piaffe" iconPiaffe wants for the stable is a giant sword, which he mentions is found in the Gerudo Highlands. Specifically, you will be heading to the Gerudo Summit, which is very cold, so make sure you have the appropriate clothing to keep warm. The easiest way to get up there is via the "Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower" iconGerudo Highlands Skyview Tower, which is just south of it. If you don’t have that unlocked yet, you will have to go through a nearby cave (Maedela’s Mantle Cave) and use "Ascend" iconAscend to get to the tower’s control.

(1 of 4) You can glide down to the Gerudo Summit from the nearby tower.

From there, you can launch yourself into the sky and glide down to the Gerudo Summit. However, you will want to be extremely careful here, as there is a "Frost Gleeok" iconFrost Gleeok around this location, and you will actually be going very close to where the Gleeok is perched. So, if you find the Gleeok, then you will find the sword, but you want to make sure you don’t trigger the fight, as the Gleeok family of monsters are among the toughest ones in the game. It is best to stay as far away as you can, sneaking off to the side.

Once you feel you are in a good spot, take out your camera and get the giant sword in your frame, making sure you see the red quest icon, as it won’t count otherwise. With the picture taken, return to the stable and show Piaffe your snapshot to finish the quest. He will reward you with one Pony Point, as well as a Spicy Mushroom Risotto.
