The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

How to Complete Uma's Garden in Zelda Tears of The Kingdom

By
Jessica Dillon

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a game full of surprises. There are plenty of side quests in the game, some of which will unlock special features. If you want to own your own farm, then you can unlock the side quest Uma’s Garden, where you gain the ability to grow crops as you adventure through Hyrule. The guide below goes over how to unlock the school field for growing crops and how to complete Uma’s Garden in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom.

Starting Uma’s Garden gives Link the ability to grow crops near the Hateno Village school.

Where to Find Uma and The School Field in Tears of The Kingdom

You can find both Uma and the school field from the start of the game. It is located on a lower cliff directly in front of the !Hateno Village school, next to the Hateno Village West Well. !Uma will spend most of her time in the field, and will be there around the clock once you have unlocked the ability to grow crops. To do this, you must first complete the quests "Teach Me a Lesson I" iconTeach Me a Lesson I and "Teach Me a Lesson II" iconTeach Me a Lesson II. These are given out by "Symin" iconSymin in the !Hateno Village school and can be completed as soon as you arrive in town.

How to Grow Crops in Tears of The Kingdom

Once you have completed the Teach Me a Lesson quest line, Symin will tell you that you can use the school field. You will find !Uma is already in the school field with a quest icon floating above her head, speak with her to start the quest Uma’s Garden. She will tell you that you can now plant crops in the field and choose one for her to plant to get the quest started. In the !Hateno Village school field you are allowed to grow the following crops:

You can only plant one type of crop at a time but can easily switch them out at any time. You will need to have a crop of the same type in your inventory to start growing it in your field. The crops grow in real-time, so you won’t be able to speed things up by sleeping at an Inn. Crops seem to grow within two days in the game or every 48 minutes. We recommend stopping by your farm periodically to pick up your harvest and plant new seeds to make the most out of the school field. You can always speak to !Uma to check on how far along your plants are or to switch out crops. After your first harvest, the Uma’s Garden quest will complete. There is no reward for this, but you will be able to grow more crops in the field.
