Lady Aethelswith Interrogation

By
Scott Peers

When you speak with Lady Aethelswith during Tilting the Balance, you’ll have a number of dialogue choices as you interrogate her about the location of King Burgred. In truth, none of these will have any significant impact on the story. They will only result in slight changes to the dialogue during this scene.

Ceolwulf Is a Good Man, Despise Him, Or Not Here to Talk About Him?

“Ceolwulf is a good man.”

Eivor states that Ceolwulf only wants to see Mercia in a better place. Lady Aethelswith does not agree.

“I can see why you despise him.”

Eivor states that he understands why Lady Aethelswith would despise Ceolwulf, but that he is the right leader for Mercia nonetheless.

“I’m not here to talk about Ceolwulf.”

Eivor states that they don’t care how Lady Aethelswith feels about Ceolwulf, and that it’s only a matter of time until he’s king.

Tell Ivar to Get Out, or Do Nothing?

“Weak stomach, Aethelswith?”

Eivor states that the pigs have a big appetite, and that they’ll be hungry again soon. This is enough to force Lady Aethelswith to provide the information.

“Get out, Ivarr.”

Ivar leaves after Eivor tells him to get out. Lady Aethelswith is shaken by the severed heads, and after a brief exchange with Eivor is willing to talk.

(Do nothing)

Ivarr continues to threaten Lady Aethelswith until she breaks. At this point she tells Eivor what they need to know and the scene ends.

Clever to Bring the Heads, or You Nearly Blew It?

“Clever of you to bring the heads.”

Eivor states that they appreciated the spectacle of the severed heads. Ivarr states that it was no spectacle, but just him.

“You nearly blew it for me.”

Eivor states that they’re beginning to tire of Ivarr’s spectacles. Ivarr responds by saying they’re not spectacles, but just him.
