Homecoming

This quest begins immediately after A Noble Escort. After meeting Hunwald at Botolphston, it’s time to escort him to Lincoln, to the northwest. From the longhouse in Botolphston, head west to the water and take a small boat from the dock. Hunwald will follow as you go. Wait for Hunwald to get onto the boat and then row northwest to Lincoln. If you prefer, you can just as easily travel through the countryside north of Botolphston, with Hunwald mounted on the back of your hose, but this method will be considerably slower.

Escort Hunwald to his Home

When you arrive at Lincoln, Eivor will put their cloak on, and Hunwald will do the same. You’ll need to avoid guards as you make your way to Hunwald’s home. The main gates to the north and south are heavily guarded, but you’ll find entrances on the west and east of the town which have fewer guards patrolling them. Hunwald is unable to climb walls with you, so there’s no use in hoping he’ll follow if you take a less conventional route. If you don’t want to make a scene with an open display of violence, you can lure a drunk in front of some guards to distract them away from the entrance.

If you’d rather not sneak your way inside, you can choose to fight the guards at the entrances to Lincoln. You’ll have to keep an eye on Hunwald to protect him, but this is a perfectly viable option. If you choose violence, be sure to use any surrounding objects which might give you an advantage in the fight to begin with, such as nets holding rubble above guards. You can shoot the links holding this rubble to release it and crush any standing guards, while also creating a distraction.

(1 of 7) You’ll find Lincoln northwest of Botolphston.

When you reach Hunwald’s home, approach it from the west to ensure that you’re not seen by the guards. You’ll need to use the front door from the southern entrance to gain access. When you enter, a cutscene will begin, during which you’ll have a few dialogue options with Raeganhere, a servant of Hunwald’s family. Whatever you choose here, the outcome will be the same: you’ll need to escort Hunwald to the town hall, in the northernmost part of Lincoln.

Escort Hunwald to the Town Hall

To reach the town hall, leave Hunwald’s home the way you entered and head north on the western side of the villa. Here you can use the long grass to hide from any guards that might be patrolling the area, and choose your time to move on without having to worry about being seen. To reach the town house, you’ll need to ascend a grand series of steps at the centre of Lincoln to the north. These steps have guards patrolling them, but you can avoid being detected by sticking to the western side of the steps, and passing through a crack in the wall at the top of them. You’ll find the town house immediately to your left (west) from the top of the steps.

When you enter the town hall, a cutscene will begin. You’ll have a few dialogue options here, but it doesn’t matter what you say as the outcome will be the same. After the scene, the quest will complete.

(1 of 3) The location of the town hall, in the north of Lincoln.
