Beyond Fear

By
Scott Peers

This quest begins immediately after Pride of the Aesir. After seeing the defeat of Sinmara and the death of Baldr, Eivor wakes up back in Ravensthorpe. Troubled by the events that unfolded in Svartalfheim, they seek answers from Valka.

Beyond Fear, Dawn of Ragnarok.

Reach the Forest Southeast of Ravensthorpe

After speaking with Valka in her hut, she had few answers to offer Eivor. Instead, she suggested that you meet her at night in a forest area located southeast of Ravensthorpe. It’s roughly 300 metres away, so you won’t have too far to go.

When you reach the forest area you’ll notice a small fire with a quest marker on it. If it’s still day time, you can use the action wheel to meditate and bring on the night. You can then interact with the fire to trigger a cutscene, during which Valka will appear and bind your hands behind your back. She’ll then ask you to drink a potion and leave without a word soon after.

Untie Yourself and Defeat the Phantom Wolves

Once Valka leaves, you’ll find yourself slowly slipping into a psychedelic state, with wolves appearing all around you. You’ll need to untie your hands, but each time you try the bonds become tighter. After a few attempts you’ll be able to try again to free yourself.

Now that you’re free of the bonds you’ll immediately be set upon by numerous wolves. These will all disappear if you hit them just once, but you’ll need to fight off a number of waves. Towards the end, a larger wolf with a more distinctive pattern will appear. This is the same wolf that took a bite out of Eivor’s neck on the ice, the day their father died.

It will take a few more hits to defeat this wolf, and each hit will make it slowly fade from vision. When the wolf is gone, the vision will end and the quest with it. You’ll now find yourself back in Svartalfheim.

(1 of 4) You’ll need to interact with the fire to trigger a cutscene with Valka.
