Severing the Lines

This quest begins after completing Arrive Unexpected. To weaken the Saxon forces, Eivor and Basim are tasked with crippling the garrison at Briggworth.

To begin, you’ll need to meet Basim on the bridge of Briggworth, north of Cicestre Abbey. Once you’ve spoken with Basim, you’ll learn of three main objectives: burn boats at the dock, kill a commander at the dock, and kill a commander in the keep. This is about as easy as it sounds, but you’ll need to know how to find each of the commanders.

Burn the Boats

We’ll begin with burning the boats at the dock. As soon as you enter the fortress from the zip wire, the Saxon soldiers will attack on sight. Defeat them alongside Basim and continue north toward the dock. Be sure to use your raven to identify the location of the dock in relation to the keep. You’ll find it just east of the keep.

All of the boats that can be burned at the dock will be marked by red roofs. If you use Odin’s Sight near them, they will also be marked by teal objectives. You can burn the boats either by throwing torches on them, or shooting the fire pots stored on them. The latter method is certainly quicker, and can be used to your advantage if there are enemies near the boats, but the former saves using arrows.

(1 of 4) Use your raven to scout the location of the dock and the keep.

Defeat the Dock & Keep Commanders

As you burn the boats at the dock, you should encounter the commander there. He patrols the area around the docks, so you won’t need to search far. Despite the name, he is just a regular elite unit in the form of a Banneret. These are effective fighters, but you will have encountered many of them in the world by now. The easiest way to defeat them is by focusing on ranged attacks, which can be used to damage the Banneret while they adopt their parry stance, marked by a blue rune aura.

When fighting the Banneret in melee, you can vary light and heavy attacks, but don’t commit to spamming either. If you spam attacks, the Banneret will perform a swift counter which will always succeed. In addition to his own attacks, the Banneret will call on an arrow volley which will be marked by red circles on the ground. You’ll need to perform a dodge and roll to escape these.

Once you’ve burnt all the boats at the dock and defeated the commander there, turn your attention southwest toward the keep. The commander here patrols the keep, so he might be found anywhere throughout it. Thankfully, the keep is quite small so you won’t be searching for long. If you’re struggling, use Odin’s Sight to highlight any enemies in the vicinity. The commander will be marked with a teal objective. This one comes in the form of a Skirmisher, which are much easier to defeat than Bannerets and shouldn’t cause you any problems.

When both commanders are dead and all the boats burned, the quest will complete.
