How to Get the Death Jarl Armor Set

By
Scott Peers

This page details everything you need to know about how to get the Death Jarl armor set in Niflheim, part of the Forgotten Saga DLC in AC Valhalla. We’ll cover how to earn enough Dreams to acquire each set piece from Everold’s Shop, and how to unlock the Death Jarl Breastplate.

Death Jarl Set, Forgotten Saga DLC.

How to Unlock the Death Jarl Armor Set

The Death Jarl armor set is the only one that you can use outside of Niflheim from the Forgotten Saga DLC. You can begin to purchase each of the pieces as soon as you have enough Dreams for them, which is one of the three main currencies that you will acquire during Niflheim runs, alongside Memories and Thoughts. Dreams can’t be used to purchase anything in Niflheim, so you can rest assured that any you acquire will be saved for when you return to Everold in Ravensthorpe.

Item Modifier Cost
Death Jarl Cloak Increase Evasion when equipped, damage received is reduced by 50% and damage dealt is increased by 40% when under 30% health 50 Dreams
Death Jarl Helm Increase Evasion when equipped, damage received is reduced by 50% and damage dealt is increased by 40% when under 30% health 50 Dreams
Death Jarl Leg Armor Increase Evasion when equipped, damage received is reduced by 50% and damage dealt is increased by 40% when under 30% health 50 Dreams
Death Jarl Bracers Increase Evasion when equipped, damage received is reduced by 50% and damage dealt is increased by 40% when under 30% health 50 Dreams
Death Jarl Breastplate Increase Evasion when equipped, damage received is reduced by 50% and damage dealt is increased by 40% when under 30% health You won’t be able to purchase this piece from Everold. Instead, you need to defeat Hel, the final boss of Niflheim, during the Helheim run

As you can see from the above table, almost all of the Death Jarl armor pieces can be purchased from Everold in exchange for Dreams. You won’t be able to acquire the Death Jarl Breastplate until you’ve defeated Hel, the last boss during the run through Helheim.

Divine Landing Buff

If you want to use the Divine Landing buff but you really don’t like the appearance of the set, you can equip the set and then change the appearance of each piece to resemble that from another armor set.

There is one thing that you should keep in mind when jumping from great heights with this buff: you may sometimes encounter rubberbanding in parts of the world, which occurs when you get stuck within or between a part of the game world that has no clear boundary set from the developers You should therefore use this buff at your own risk. However, you should be able to escape anywhere that you’re stuck by fast travelling to a synchronization point from the map.

Death Jarl Stats and Modifiers

Aside form the Divine Landing buff, the Death Jarl armor set also provides some of the most powerful set modifiers. It can improve your Evasion to some extent, but the main advantage is the 50% reduction in damage received, which is a permanent buff. This will make it much more difficult for enemies to kill you, and could be useful to counteract some of the Nightmare-difficulty level attacks if you’re into playing with those settings. The 40% increase in damage when you’re under 30% health will also make it easier for you to finish off powerful enemies if they’re giving you a tough time.

The stats of Armor and Evasion overall on the Death Jarl set are also impressive, but you will need to invest a lot of Iron Ore, Leather, and Titanium to upgrade them to their maximum values. This is the main compromise that you’ll face with the set, but it can be worth using it even without upgrading since you’ll receive significantly less damage from unavoidable attacks that can’t be negated by evasion, such as special fire, poison, or shock attacks, especially those encountered during boss fights.
